More About Me

I’m Tosin, an architect with a passion for creating spaces that resonate with people and their lives. My work explores the intersection of culture, community, and creativity, drawing on a rich heritage and deep commitment to innovation.

My Journey

Welcome! I work at the intersection between architecture, planning, and computational social sciences. I am particularly excited about investigating, through multidisciplinary methods, the complexities of sustainable and economic development within the built environment. I spent the last decade exploring this theme through the design of various higher education, civic, and residential projects in Nigeria and the U.S. I love what I do, and I'm always looking for people to discuss ideas with.

Expression

I am dedicated to exploring alternative approaches to planning and design, in theory and practice. This is rooted in a desire to celebrate the different elements that have influenced my style and expression. I use various design and analytical tools to visualize complex ideas and bring clarity and style to various planning processes. Whether through illustrations, sketches, or detailed design, my goal is to create visual pieces that provoke thought and emotion and promote culture with an evidence-based grounding.

Current Projects

I am a PhD student at the Landscape and Regional Planning (LARP) department at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. My research focuses on exploring how cities are preparing to handle essential infrastructural services in an increasingly algorithm-dependent society. In exploring this, my goal is to identify practical ways that urban areas can remain affordable, equitable, and safe for key public workers, not just those who build and control technology. I am also a research assistant on an NSF Future of Trucking grant focused on the impact of automaion on long-haul trucking in the U.S. and what this means for future planning. Besides these, I'm doing some cool work that explores graffiti/art as a tool for storytelling.
